Katie + Jeremy

Happy New Year!!!! I have to admit that I don’t know where 2011 has gone. 2012 resolution – slow down enough to know what it’s like to be bored again. I’ve come to realize that the only way to put the brakes on how fast time flies is to be bored. 🙂 And I have not been bored since I was twelve!

For now though, I am super excited to share my first ever New Years Eve wedding!!! It was a beauty! I had such a hard time narrowing down the images for this blog post. I am afraid to count the ones that have made the cut, but pretty sure they come close to 100! Some sneak peek… 🙂

Most exciting part of the day as you all know is seeing the dress for the first time! I was in for a surprise. Not only was Katie’s dress stunning, but the bridesmaid dresses were a dream too!

Beautiful lace San Patrick dress and Kate Spade sparkly shoes. Perfect for a New Years Celebration!

Katie’s shoes and my shoes in the same frame. 😛

STUNNING! Katie was ready to see Jeremy for the first time on their wedding day. They chose to do a first look so they could have a little daylight for pictures in addition to the nighttime shots we were going to do after the ceremony.

And this was the beginning of a big cry fest for me. I think the camera has water damage again with all the crying I did during their ceremony!

Can I just tell you how these are my favorite bridesmaid dresses of 2011! So pretty and colorful and perfectly matched with the cardigans, gold skinny belt and shoes.

I asked Katie to share a little bit about how the idea with the different color dresses came together. “All the dresses were purchased from Bella Bianca in Oakbrook Terrace.  All were Jim Hjelm except for the navy blue one, which was Alvina Valenta.  I just told the girls a jewel tone, knee-length, taffeta dress and there were off to the races!  I wanted them to have different dresses that suited their own style, not just for the cool visual it would create, but also because it was really important to me that my favorite women in the world feel as beautiful and unique as I knew I was going to feel.  I wanted us to be able to rejoice in our beauty together, you know?  More fun …  🙂

The cardigans were from all different stores.  I basically walked around with fabric swatches in my purse for months and was constantly on the lookout for cardys that matched the girls’ dresses.  They all had gold confetti jewelry from JCrew. The shoes were a complete surprise as one of the girls stumbled upon them at a Steinmart one day –they are Moda Spana — and we immediately called around to a bunch of stores to get all the right sizes.  The gold belts were so cheap … I can’t even remember where we got them!  They were $3 and pink and we painted them gold!”

The ceremony took place at Bond Chapel on the University of Chicago campus. And I was besides myself excited to be back for a wedding at the chapel. It is gorgeous!!! But first, we took a few more pictures of the couple as they were awaiting the arrival of their guests.

Come on in, the ceremony is about to begin!

Feels royal, right? 🙂 It’s the red carpet. Nothing like the RED carpet! I should also mention that all the gorgeous floral arrangements you are seeing were created by StemLine, Creative.

Here comes the bride!!! And if you think that a “first look” takes away from the emotion of walking down the isle you are wrong. Both Katie and Jeremy cried.

The ceremony was so beautiful, heartfelt and real. I cried for 30 minutes straight. I am surprised how well the pictures turned out considering I couldn’t see anything!

The person peeking from behind the church door is none other than Tiffany Munster of Soirée weddings & events overseeing the sparkler send off! As always she was a dream to work with. Perfection and top notch organization from start to finish! THANK YOU, Tiffany!!

Off we go back to the city for a couple of nighttime shots in the park!

Are you ready to see the magic Katie created at the reception venue?

Confetti cake and cupcakes by Luscious Layers. YUM! The reception took place at the colorful Carnivale in downtown Chicago!

How is that for a first dance? Katie and Jeremy were amazing on the dance floor! The music wasn’t so bad either. 😛 Truth is, the music was incredible. DJ and owner Ryan Meeks from Non-Stop Entertainment ROCKED the house!

During dinner, I usually take the newlyweds rings for a little “alone” time in front of the camera. Don’t you just love Katie’s ring???? I want one!

Countdown to 2012!!!!!!!

Happy New Year!!!!!

I hope you enjoyed seeing this beautiful New Years Eve wedding as much as I did photographing it! Danced all night long with camera in hand and climbed on everything I could for great views of the action on the dance floor!
