Something Old…

Would you have ever thought that your something old could be your dress? Trends come and go, but timeless is always in fashion and that was never more evident than the day Prince William married Kate Middleton. She chose to be timeless. Just as Grace Kelly did more than half a century ago. And the way she looked then is just as beautiful now as ever.

A couple of weekends ago a few of my favorite vendors and I put together a styled shoot (a first for me) to showcase just that timeless beauty of a dress well made. Our models were a real life couple tying the knot this October. The star of our session – Suzanne’s grandmother’s wedding dress. Everything we each contributed was meant to showcase this one of a kind spectacular dress a young woman wore to marry the man of her dreams sixty years ago, the same dress her daughter wore on her wedding day and now her granddaughter…

But before we get started here is the team that created the magic:

Session Design and Planning: Tiffany Munster of Soirée Weddings & Events

Hair & Makeup: Briette Madrid of Makeup by Briette

Flowers: Fleur

Tiara: Pishposhes

Location: County Line Orchard – Hobart, IN

Photography: Cristina G Photography

The detail of the lace was unlike anything I have ever seen before.

My definition of a styled shoot includes keeping it real. 🙂 We had an amazing time and at the end of the day I want my images to tell a story – whether it is the story of your wedding day or of how much fun we had playing bride and groom in your grandmother’s wedding dress on a sunny afternoon of a rainy spring, the year you were married.

How incredible is Briette? Suzanne’s makeup was flawless. And the tiara? Perfection. Maura custom made this piece for the session in less than two days! THANK YOU, Maura!

A walk and a kiss.

Oh yea… we forgot to ask for kiss-proof lipstick.

Ahhh, the details… Tiffany really worked her magic.

And that bouquet… Have you ever seen anything this beautiful? I haven’t. I dreamed about it at night and had to go get some coral peonies and orange ranunculus for myself right away!

We ended the session with some pictures in front of the barn doors… because when I saw them I couldn’t resist! By the way, County Line Orchard is an actual wedding venue as well. I would just love to photograph a wedding there!

I couldn’t have asked for a better team or better models to work with! I am excited to have the opportunity to work again with these wonderful vendors throughout the 2011 wedding season, but I am sad beyond words to already be booked the day of Suzanne and Matt’s wedding… they were a joy to photograph. Camera loves them, what can I say! I hope you all enjoyed our first adventure into the world of styled wedding photography. We’d love your input and opinion on everything you saw in this blog post. 🙂
